MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There’s a new call for younger people to help seniors take care of necessary needs.

East Side Senior Services and Eras Senior Network are asking for help. Both local organizations tell CBS 58 that COVID-19 has seriously cut volunteer staff.

The older adults they serve need people to grocery shop, make wellness calls and trips to the doctor.

“Most of our volunteers are older themselves and they are hesitant to go shopping," East Side Senior Services executive director Melissa Meier said. "So we really could use a lot of the younger folks who are willing, and able, to go out there.”

Both organizations provide these services free of charge. Eras Senior Network helps seniors in both Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties. East Side helps residents in Milwaukee County.
