MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- "if I had to describe this day with one word, I would say, "hallelujah!"
That's Port Milwaukee Director Jackie Q. Carter, celebrating Thursday's groundbreaking for the new South Shore Cruise Dock.
This will be Milwaukee's third designated cruise dock. It will be a stop for seaway max ships, among the biggest cruise ships that tour the Great Lakes.
People on those ships will get a chance to get off and tour some of the attractions in Bay View.
"We pride ourselves in being one of the most welcoming parts of the city of Milwaukee," said Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic. "All people are welcome at all times, and we can't wait to provide that amazing cup of coffee or that beautiful dinner that is often recognized in the Journal Sentinel as some of the top and hot dining spots."
The dock is expected to be ready in time for next year's cruise season.
