Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Blackberry
WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A local family is being recognized for helping those in need.
Two children from Walworth County are donating blankets to nearby police departments.
They make all the blankets themselves.
Sheila Newman taught her children Jonny and Maddie how to sew. They're 12-years-old and 8-years-old.
"We just hope that other people get inspired to get involved with their community and do little things," said Sheila Newman.
The kids began making the blankets so police would have them on hand in emergencies.
The blankets also go to the homeless.
So far, they have given the blankets to Pewaukee Police, East Troy Police, and the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
They plan to donate to more departments in the future.
