MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast will participate in National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend 2019 from February 22–24. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest annual investment in girls in the United States.

All of the proceeds from the cookies fund troop projects and experiences, as well as important programming at the local level, such as outdoor adventure and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Many Girl Scouts invest their earnings back into their communities. Girl Scouts in southeastern Wisconsin have completed projects including installation of a wheelchair accessible garden bed at the Riveredge Nature Center, a children’s book program at the Brookfield Public Library, a mental illness awareness program targeting middle school students, an engineering conference for girls at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and more.

“Girl Scouts helps girls build progressive leadership skills,” said Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast CEO Christy Brown. “When you buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies you are funding opportunities that give girls the tools they need to combat current challenges and achieve their goals. Cookies help girls discover courage, develop confidence, and define their character.”
