MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Coronavirus may have disrupted the initial wedding plans, but not their desire to pledge their love -- even if it meant tying the knot outside on a cold day in March with fewer than ten people to witness their vows.
"Within the last week we probably had five different wedding plans," said Stephanie Nelson, bride. "But this is what worked. So we're just happy to be married and start our life together."
It wasn't what they had planned months ago, but a special day just the same for newlyweds Stephanie and Jacob Nelson. They exchanged vows outside the Milwaukee City Hall rotunda as a small group of family members looked on in person and others watched the live stream.
COVID-19 has put their European honeymoon on hold.
"We've canceled that, but maybe Hawaii this summer if things cool down," said groom Jacob Nelson. "But we're taking it one step at a time."
Their Friday night reception will include ten people at their condo with take-out food on the menu, in order to support local restaurants.
