Local chefs to recreate childhood favorites for SHARP Literacy fundraiser
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Top Milwaukee chefs will join forces in the eighth annual "Unwrapped Milwaukee" fundraising event, benefiting SHARP Literacy.
The event, to be held May 18 from 5 - 8 p.m. at The Gage in West Allis, challenges participating chefs to create gourmet small-plate dishes using McDonald's core ingredients, drawing inspiration from their childhood food memories.
Proceeds from the event will support SHARP's educational program, which currently serves over 8,000 elementary students in Milwaukee, Racine, and Waukesha. Focusing on experiential and hands-on learning, the program is designed to resonate with urban students.
"Unwrapped Milwaukee" will feature food stations where chefs will serve their creations, as well as a silent auction, a bourbon experience and a student art display. The event has raised more than $335,000 in revenue since its inception in 2016 and has expanded to include "Unwrapped Waukesha Edition."
For those interested in attending the event, individual tickets are available for $100 and can be purchased online at Unwrapped23.givesmart.com.
