MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Lime is holding an interactive and hands-on electric scooter safety course at Milwaukee World Festival on Saturday.
The course is designed for riders 18 and older to learn the rules of the road and demo a Lime scooter in a safe environment.
The First Ride Academy will take place at 12 p.m. in the parking lot outside the Summerfest grounds. In order to participate, you must be a Lime user or sign up for an account at the event.
Training is free, and everyone who finishes gets a free helmet. This comes as the city has gotten more than 100 complaints about the electric scooters so far. Some say people are riding them on sidewalks and even in the middle of traffic, instead of the bike lane.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has temporarily halted expansion of the scooters.
More information on the training event can be found on Lime’s website.
