License Plates for Deer Hunters Now Available
Motorists in Wisconsin can now purchase custom Whitetails Unlimited license places for their vehicles.
The plates feature a photo of a trophy whitetail buck and the designation “Whitetails Unlimited” along the bottom. The cost for the new plates include a $25 fee that goes to support Whitetails Unlimited, which was founded in Wisconsin and has its national headquarters in Sturgeon Bay.
“This has been a long process, but we’re very happy to finally have these plates available,” said Russ Austad, WTU’s program services director. “We started about 10 months ago with a bill introduced in the legislature by Joel Kitchens, our local representative for Door County. Everyone in the whole process has been great to work with, but it does takes some time to work out all the details.”
The plates are available as of January 31, and can be obtained at any Wisconsin Department of Transportation office where license plate renewals are normally processed, or through the DOT website.
Plates may be personalized, and the website has a system to see if a particular personalized plate already has been issued. Motorists with existing personalized plates can transfer that personalization to the new WTU plate.
