LeBron to become free agent

MIAMI--LeBron James will not exercise his player-option with the Miami Heat, becoming a free agent, the team confirmed Tuesday.

July 1st is the first official day of free agency, so that is when teams can start to pursue James. He leaves his contract with two years left.

James has played the last four seasons with the Heat, making the Finals each time and winning two NBA Championships. His Heat team lost to the San Antonio Spurs in five games in the 2014 Finals.
