MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The USA Fencing Summer Championship is being held in Milwaukee this year and kicks off this weekend at the Baird Center.
The tournament will feature over 5,000 fencers of all ages and levels of skill, including some former Olympians.
Milwaukee Bucks Minority Owner Jeffrey Weber will be competing in the tournament, and says this tournament is a great opportunity for the city.
“It’s a really interesting combat sport so if you like pirates, the three musketeers, lightsabers in Star Wars,” Weber said. “Fencing is in our culture and entertainment and it’s a very exciting sport to watch.”
The tournament is free to get into and will last from Saturday, June 28 until July 7.
“I think it’s fantastic for the city, because you’re going to bring in 5,000 fencers that are going to enjoy Milwaukee,” Weber said.
