MILWAUKEE (CSB 58) -- Some long-standing construction projects in Milwaukee are almost finished.
The DOT said that the barricades and barrels will come down next week for what they call the "North Leg" of the zoo interchange. That means I-41 will open up to four lanes in both directions between Watertown Plank and Burleigh. All ramps connected to North Ave will be open as well.
Parts of this project started in 2021.
"Lot of traffic impacts to local residents, businesses and we're just excited to get this opened up and get everything wrapped up and get out of here," said Sean Race, construction supervisor.
The Department of Transportation says weather permitting, those north leg ramps and lanes will be open in time for next Monday's commute.
