Lakewood Police Investigating After 3-Month-Old Baby Found Abandoned in a Yard

LAKEWOOD, WA - Police are investigating after a 3-month-old baby was found lying in the grass of a Lakewood neighborhood in Washington.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, a person was walking past the location and heard what sounded like an animal in distress. They used the flashlight on their phone and located a child lying in the grass. They immediately called 911.

The child was a little cold but otherwise in good health with no injuries. The child was transported to a local hospital and placed into protective custody with Child Protective Services.

According to the Lakewood WA Police Department, they are confident that they have located the parents. Both are currently detained and being interviewed by detectives.

According to police, they don't have answers yet on the circumstances that led up to the child being abandoned but are hoping to learn more soon.
