Lakefront Brewery hosts 3rd annual period supply drive
MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- Lakefront Brewery partners with the Milwaukee Diaper Mission with the goal of combating period poverty in the Milwaukee area.
The brewery hosted its 3rd annual period supply drive on Sun. May 4.
And to encourage donations, Lakefront Brewery offered 25 cents in gift card credit for each individual disposable pad or tampon donated.
"If you think about maybe a mother who is at the grocery store and has diapers and periods supplies in her cart, but only has enough for one of them, she's going to choose the diapers for her child," said Meagan Johnson, founder and executive of Milwaukee Diaper Mission. "So she has to put those period supplies back on the shelf and potentially won't have anything for when her cycle begins. So, it's really important to support people in Milwaukee who have a period so they can stay clean and dry."
Since launching its first period supply drive in 2023, Lakefront has collected almost 17,000 period products.
