Labor Day festivities begin downtown

Gates opened at noon at the Summerfest grounds for Laborfest, but the festivities began at Zeidler Union Square.
Dozens took part in the annual labor day parade.
Several labor groups ranging from the teacher's union, medical, and steel workers all marched through downtown Milwaukee.
This year's theme for Laborfest was “Unions work for a better way.”
Organizers said they focused on young people in the labor force as part of the theme.
For many local families it's their last day of family fun before fall begins.
“We came out just to celebrate labor day, and do one last something before the end of summer,\" said Cathy Winkle.
The festival takes place all day and admission is free.
