Komatsu Mining Corp. to build $285 million dollar campus in Milwaukee’s Harbor District

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Komatsu Mining Corp. plans to build a $285 million dollar headquarters and manufacturing campus in Milwaukee’s Harbor District.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Governor Scott Walker, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Komatsu leaders.
The 2.5 million square foot campus will be built near Greenfield Ave. Komatsu manufactures mining, forestry and industrial equipment. Initially, the project is expected to bring around 600 jobs to the area.
“They do about $150 million worth of business each year with Wisconsin based companies," Gov. Walker said. "So there’s a lot of ripple effect, as we say, of the benefits of this."
Komatsu plans to break ground in 2019. The campus is expected to open in 2022.
