Kenosha: Tactical Response Team activated after armed subjects flee into residence

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) --- Kenosha County Tactical Response Team (TRT) responded to home after armed subjects fled into a house, Sunday Jan. 10.

Police say around 12:16 a.m. a Kenosha police officer was in the 4800 block of 20th Avenue investigating a shots fired complaint.

The officer witnessed a group of people fire a handgun into the air. Officials say the officer identified himself and told subjects to remain where they were. The subjects fled into a home and additional units responded to the scene.

Police say the occupants of the house refused to cooperate and would not open the door or speak to police.

After a search warrant was authorized, Kenosha TRT responded. Entry was gained to the home, however, the subjects continued to refuse police commands, according to a news release. Police say chemical munitions were then used and the remaining subjects were taken into custody.

Multiple firearms were recovered from the home and the person who fired the shot was arrested.

There were no injuries and no risk to the community.

Police do not believe this incident has any connection to recent protests.

The investigation remains active.
