KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department has found and arrested the suspect accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old Illinois resident in July 2018.
The alleged assault took place at the Bluebird Motel on Sheridan Road in Somers.
After the assault, the 61-year-old suspect identified as Stephen Smith cut off his GPS ankle bracelet to avoid authorities.
On September 19, the Sheriff's Department received an anonymous tip that Smith was staying at The Value Inn Motel on 122nd Avenue in Kenosha. Officials responded to the motel and arrested Smith without incident.
A press conference releasing more information will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. CBS 58 will carry the press conference live on CBS58.com.
