MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Juneteenth Day flag is now flying over 10th and Atkinson on Milwaukee's north side.
A flag-raising ceremony was held Monday, June 14, featuring several local leaders, including Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
Juneteenth is coming up Saturday, June 19, marking the day in 1865 when the last remaining slaves in Texas learned that they were freed by the emancipation proclamation.
A Juneteenth flag will be raised over Milwaukee's City Hall Tuesday, June 15.
