Janesville man dies in Walworth County crash near Illinois border

WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office responded to a rollover crash Wednesday morning just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 11/14 and Highway C/M.

A grey Chevy van was driving east on Highway 11/14 when it was T-boned by black Jeep which was driving south on Highway M and trying to turn left onto Highway 11/14. The driver of the Jeep was at fault by not yielding to the right of way when they had a stop sign.

When deputies arrived they found that both of the vehicles were severely damaged and multiple people were injured.

The driver of the Chevy van was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle. The driver was identified as 40-year-old Janesville man Marcus Hawkinson who was pronounced dead at the hospital in Janesville after life saving efforts.

The Jeep was driven by a 26-year-old woman with two small children ages five and six in the car. All three suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed for three hours while the crash was investigated.
