James Webb telescope sends selfie

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- NASA's new space telescope sent its first pictures back to Earth from a million miles away Friday.

You could call this a selfie from the James Webb space telescope.

It launched on Christmas Day.

Now in position, the telescope was able to do a trial run of its gold mirror and near infrared camera.

NASA is promising when it's fully functional.

The new telescope could forever change the way we see the universe.
