MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There's a new place in Milwaukee to play pickleball, one of the hottest sports on the planet right now.
It opened Wednesday, Nov. 5, in one of our county parks.
Wednesday's ribbon cutting at Jackson Park, on the city's south side, included a friendly game on the new courts.
Jackson Park now has not only new pickleball courts, but tennis and futsal courts as well.
This is a recreational improvement, and it's also part of a Kinnickinnic River Flood Management Project.
The courts give visitors a place to play while river restoration projects take place in other parts of the park, and leaders believe the courts will be very popular.
"When the pickleball courts opened up in West Milwaukee Park, people flocked to them," said County Supervisor Sky Ziskin-Capriolo. "And I expect the same thing to happen with these three sport courts right here, which only brings more vitality to Jackson Park."
The courts are ready; now all we need is some mild November weather to get them broken in.
