‘It is our lifelong joy’: Brewers playoff run inspiring Dousman family
CBS 58 DOUSMAN, Wis. (CBS 58) — AJ and Matthew Kerbel live around 30 miles away from American Family Field in Dousman.
The 34-year-old twins are living with cerebral palsy, but they do not miss a pitch of Brewers baseball.
“I think I like the Brewers just because it’s something I can do and kind of distract myself a little bit,” AJ Kerbel said. “Sports brings everybody together, so it’s just one of those things.”
The twins started going to games with their dad, Duane, when they were little and continue to go to games every year.
“It gives us something to do that doesn’t matter if they’re in a wheelchair,” Duane Kerbel said. “Taking my boys, it gives me joy because I’m able to do something for them and with them that they really enjoy.”
The family is locked in on the postseason as the Brewers head to the National League Championship Series to face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“It’s gonna be tough, but I think we can do it. We took the season series four to three, and this is gonna be a seven-game series, so hopefully they just repeat what they did in the regular season,” AJ Kerbel said.
The family is hoping the Brewers can do the impossible and bring home a World Series title.
“It would be fantastic. It is our lifelong joy and a dream,” Duane Kerbel said.
