'It crushed me': Family grieves as Milwaukee Police search for double shooting suspect
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A family is grieving as police search for the man they say shot and killed a Milwaukee man and injured his sister.
"It crushed me," said Demontre Harvey. "It felt like my life and my world was ending."
One week ago, Demontre Harvey says his life changed forever.
"Now my brother is gone, the only brother I have," said Harvey.
Harvey says last Wednesday, March 11, his older brother Cortney Harvey went to help their oldest sister Taneisha Wilson, after she broke up with her boyfriend, Torcel Thomas.
"My sister told me the man grabbed her by the neck, pushed her against the wall and slammed her a couple of times, my brother broke it up," said Thomas.
Harvey says Thomas left after the argument and when he came back, it took a turn for the worse.
"The man got out and shot my brother six times and that’s when he saw my sister come out the house," said Harvey. "He shot her three times and then he supposedly ran over my brother also and sped off on the scene."
Milwaukee Police told CBS 58 while no arrests have been made, they do confirm Torcel Thomas is being charged.
Harvey says his sister and family won't be able to rest until he is caught.
"She don’t want to go home," said Harvey. "She don’t want to go home because the man is still not found. So, she's scared that he might come back, so we don’t know what to do."
This all while dealing with the heartbreak of losing Cortney, who Harvey says was the protector of the family and his best friend.
"I'm going to miss him, really miss him," said Harvey. "One thing we promised each other was to make sure we protect them with our lives and I'm just so glad that’s what he died doing, is protecting his sister."
Court records show Thomas was previously charged with disorderly conduct involving domestic abuse.
