MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Islands of Brilliance has recently launched iPad Labs, a new initiative designed to enhance hands-on engagement for local students on the autism spectrum.
Margaret Fairbanks from Islands of Brilliance joined us on Wednesday, Dec. 13 to discuss the newly opened labs in Milwaukee. She said that the aim is to accommodate a broad range of autistic students, from those who work independently to those requiring significant support.
This program emerged from observing the interaction of students with creative technologists and the Procreate software on iPads at conferences. It provides different "challenge" pathways for participants, allowing them to engage at their own comfort levels.
iPad Labs was kickstarted in November and is part of a larger effort to provide inclusive educational environments.
