Iowa woman dies in Dodge County crash with semi

On Tuesday, July 11 at 2:17 AM, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car versus semi-tractor crash on US 151 north near Gunn Road, in the town of Calamus.

Preliminary investigation shows that 25-year-old Levi Nielsen from Iowa was driving a 2006 Ford pickup truck towing an enclosed trailer with race car inside north on US 151 in the right lane approaching the back of a semi. The pickup truck attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the semi but the right side of the pickup hit the back of the semi. 

A passenger in the pickup truck identified as 43-year-old Iowa woman Jessica J Miller was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. Nielsen sustained minor injuries in the crash and declined medical treatment. The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.

Contributing factors are being investigated, but fog was not present at the time of the crash.
