International water skiing event cancelled in Milwaukee due to blue-green algae bloom

The Malibu Open, an international water skiing event, has been cancelled in Milwaukee due to a bloom of blue-green algae in Veterans Park Lagoon.
A post on the event's website, says that Milwaukee County pulled the permit and will not allow the event to take place. The group tried to find an alternate site in the area including Lakeshore State Park, but nothing has come up.
They are planning on rescheduling the event at a later date to be determined soon.
