Inside Indyfest: Continuing a Rich History of Milwaukee Auto Racing

IndyFest returns to the Milwaukee Mile this weekend and will continue a long tradition of auto racing in Milwaukee that goes back more than a century.  The Mile was originally built as a horse track in the late 1870’s and in 1891 Agricultural Society of the State of Wisconsin purchased the site in order to create a permanent home for the Wisconsin State Fair.  Auto racing at the Mile began in 1903 and continues to this day.  The Milwaukee Mile is the oldest continuously operating auto racing facility in the world.

Recently Josh Landon spent time with organizers of IndyFest from Andretti Sports Marketing, the hosts of this year’s event, to explore what keeps auto racing coming back to Milwaukee year after year.
