IndependenceFirst Threads of the World Gallery Night Reception

IndependenceFirst features “Threads of the World,” works by Melissa Enderle, in its annual exhibition promoting full inclusion of people with disabilities in making, exhibiting and viewing original artwork. The exhibition shows October 1-30, 2014, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at IndependenceFirst, 540 S. 1st St. in Milwaukee, with a Gallery Night Reception October 17, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Enderle, a Wisconsin native, is an international teacher who has traveled and lived all over the world. Her highly-detailed artwork in watercolor, pastel and colored pencil features the cultures of places she has visited, worked and lived, including Mali, Tunisia, Serbia and Mexico.

The reception on October 17 coincides with the Third Ward Association’s quarterly Gallery Night event, so make IndependenceFirst one of your Gallery Night stops! At 7 p.m. there will be a Skype Talk with Enderle, who is currently teaching in South Korea. There will be a short interview with her and then time for people to ask questions.

Each October, IndependenceFirst shows the work of professional or aspiring professional artists with disabilities or artists whose work contains disability-related themes in celebration of National Disability Awareness Month.
