In the books: First practice at US Women's Open at Erin Hills
ERIN HILLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The first practice rounds at Erin Hills for the U.S. Women's Open are in the books. U.S. Women's Open Senior Director Allison Burns says the golfers' first look impresses them.
"They are loving it," Burns says. "They are amazed. They are coming back off 18 and they are like, 'It's a long walk but it's a beautiful one,' which I think is what we all expected for them to say. I'm excited to see them in the next few days go through their interview process and see what they have to say about this fantastic property."
Burns works for the USGA, the United States Golf Association. So, what level of anxiousness is there leading up to the first tee shot of the tournament when the first round begins Thursday morning?
"Chaos, energy, excitement," Burns says. "I think it's all of those things combined. We have seen pretty much the full field out here today. So this is the first official day of practice rounds for our players. So they're getting the lay of the land. It's exciting. I just drove out on the property a few minutes ago. I was at hole 4, 5, 6. They're out there. It's a beautiful day."
