Imagine MKE hires new executive director to promote advocacy for Milwaukee's arts sector

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee-based nonprofit, Imagine MKE, has appointed Adam Braatz as its new Executive Director according to a press release issued on Tuesday, March 7.

Braatz, who has worked in the nonprofit, private and public sectors, will lead efforts to form partnerships across the arts, nonprofit, business and public sectors. Imagine MKE says he will also push for increased public funding and state policies to make the arts sector sustainable, grow the creative economy and retain talent in Milwaukee.

He will take on the role as Governor Evers proposed to allocate $100 million to the Artistic Endowment Fund, with an aim to enhance the creative economy across the state.

Imagine MKE says that Wisconsin currently ranks last in the nation for public funding for the arts and culture sector. The nonprofit's Board Chair, Deanna Tillisch, said Braatz brings relevant professional experience, deep passion for the arts and thoughtful approaches to advocate for increased public support.

She added, "The arts are essential to Milwaukee’s vibrancy and economic prosperity. Adam will bring to this role a blend of relevant professional experience, a deep passion for the arts, and thoughtful approaches to make the case for increased public support."

Board member and Search Committee Chair, Moira Fitzgerald, said the process involved reviewing more than 50 candidates to ensure a diverse representation of stakeholders.

Imagine MKE advocates creating systemic change through the arts and culture sector to improve Milwaukee’s vibrancy and economic prosperity.
