'I hope they do it in 3': Brewers fans hopeful after big win over the Cubs
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The energy was electric as both Brewers and Cubs fans gathered to watch game one of the National League Division Series.
"I'm rooting for the Brewers, they are going to do it," said Brewers fan, Mark Kaelin. "I hope they do it in three."
Brewers fans are feeling confident and hopeful after a big win against the Cubs Saturday, Oct. 4.
"When I came in here, they were already down 1-0, so I was like it's really early and they are already losing by one," said Brewers fan, Lupe Serna. "This is a huge turnaround and a really quick turnaround, so I'm really excited now."
Brewers and Cubs fans alike packed Bluemound Road in Milwaukee, wearing their team pride and raising a glass to their home teams.
Hundreds of people hopped on shuttles to witness the action on the diamond.
"I think that’s what everybody wanted," said Kaelin. "This matchup between the Cubs and the Brewers."
Those who couldn't secure a spot in the sold-out stands took the fun inside at local bars.
Fans from both sides can agree on one thing, they wouldn't want to start the playoffs with any other match up. Embracing the energy of the I-94 rivalry.
"It’s a friendly rivalry," said Cubs fan, Timothy Jarog. "We can all hate the Cardinals together. We can bond over that."
Starting the series off with a big win, Brewers fans say they feel this the year they can take it all.
"It’s a great day for baseball," said Kaelin. "It’s a great day for the Brewers fans. I think the Brewers are playing with the spirit of Bob Uecker looking down on them and he's going to do it. I think this is the year the Brewers can go all the way."
