Pleasant Prairie Police are now looking for the man who called 911 around 7:30 Monday morning, saying he had killed someone, had two others hostage, and would kill all responding officers.
The call was made from a blocked number.
“I got two hostages… I already got one dead body,” the caller said. “I need a hostage negotiator or else I got two dead bodies coming soon. I’m freaking out.”
The caller said he was near 85th and Green Bay Road in Pleasant Prairie, but when police searched the area with guns they found nothing.
Officers went door-to-door of several homes and businesses in the area.
A radio station was told to lock their doors, a preschool and Village Public Works building was put on lockdown.
Officers ultimately determined the threat was a hoax, a “swatting” call.
This is one someone calls police with a fake emergency and requires a lot of police response.
These calls have popped up all over Wisconsin, and across the country and are taken very seriously.
The Pleasant Prairie Police Chief said you can get arrested and charged for faking a call like this.
He said this is the first “swatting” call Pleasant Prairie has ever received and it is a waste of resources.
