MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of young people from Milwaukee raised their voices in pride and unity at the 5th Annual Summit on Black Male Youth.
The 2-day series of workshops is hosted by the UWM African American Male Initiative.
The theme is "Black Boys Thriving...Reimagining the Narrative."
"The summit means to show that it's possible. It's not so much if they're going to go to college, it's not so much if they're going to get a trade, it's so much that there's a tangible reality that there are men in the community who are doing great things besides what is being put out. Remember this moment because this is an important moment," said Kwabena Antoine Nixon, Author and Motivational Speaker.
Nixon, who lost his father and many friends to street violence, is a Milwaukee motivational speaker, author, and poet.
He will be featured on our December 24 edition of CBS 58 Sunday Morning.
