Hubertus Family fights Lyme Disease

The CDC estimates that nearly 300,000 Americans are infected with Lyme disease each year. They also say most of those cases are concentrated in just a handful of states, and Wisconsin happens to be one of them.

37-year-old Cerissa Lyons from Hubertus suffers from the disease. Lymes disease that is transmitted by infected ticks. It can cause a skin rash, and severe pain in your joints.

Her mother, Sandy family tells us Cerissa's battle with the disease started about two years ago.It's gotten so bad she has a to have help getting in and out of bed.

\"I've seen some people that have been diagnosed right away. They do their couple of antibiotics and seem to be fine and there are others that and it pretty much takes their whole quality of life away,\" said Schwalbach.

Cerissa is a dentist who use to own her own practice. She can't work anymore. Her husband, and family are taking care of her full time.
