(CBS 58) – Milwaukee arborist Adam Passo joined CBS 58 to share information on how to help protect trees and plants from rock salt during the winter.
According to Passo, salt used to de-ice sidewalks and roadways can have a negative impact on the surrounding environment.
Tips include choosing salt with calcium chloride, which is less harmful to plants than salt with sodium chloride, watering road-side trees extra during winter, rinsing salt off of tree trunks and removing any extra salt on soil.
