Holiday weekend lane restrictions

OZAUKEE COUNTY-Get ready for lane restrictions on I-43 in Ozaukee County over holiday weekend.

The DOT warns that there could be significant northbound delays expected near Port Washington on Friday.

It's because of construction work on bridges along I-43, from Northwoods Road to County LL.

Traffic will be reduced to one Northbound (NB) lane at County LL, near Fredonia. Delays of several miles are anticipated.

WisDOT is encouraging northbound traffic to take alternate routes, if possible. The recommended alternate route follows WIS 57 NB to WIS 23 eastbound, back to I-43. Portable message signs will be found along I-43, directing drivers to the alternate route.

There will be no lane restrictions for Southbound traffic on I-43, but delays are likely on Monday due to heavy holiday traffic.

WisDOT reminds drivers to be alert, be patient and buckle up.
