Holiday Stroll beckons people to shop local

WHITEFISH BAY- Local shop keepers say it's crucial to support the main street in your town or village.

Even along Silver Spring in Whitefish Bay where there are some \"for lease\" signs, there was an air of optimism that people will respond and realize that small business has a big impact on the local economy.

The Civic Association held its annual Holiday Stroll Friday night.

Starting with a parade at 6 p.m. and an appearance by Santa and his reindeer, the event invited families to the main drag and linger and shop.

Many stores, like the \"New Options Salon\" had live displays in the windows to entice visitors.

\"It's a fun event,\" Tina Luna told CBS 58 News, \"support your local community. Get out and find some good deals.\"

CBS 58 Anchor Michele McCormack was honored to once again ride along in the stroll and enjoy some Christmas Cheer.
