Complaint: Woman accused of causing fire damage in separate incident, hours before fatal Highland Court fire

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly causing fire damage to a key fob at the Highland Court apartment complex, hours before a massive fire at the same address that killed five people.
Forty-five-year-old Lakescha Warley is charged with arson of property other than a building and criminal damage to property.
She's accused of applying an open flame to the key fob at the stairwell near the entrance to the building's parking structure around 5:30 a.m. May 11.
Just hours later, five people died in a massive fire at the same address.
A criminal complaint says officials responded to the building and located the damaged key fob, which had been pulled off the wall with the plastic cover removed, exposing the circuit board. It says the bottom of the unit was melted from heat damage, consistent with someone applying fire or heat to it, and a burn mark was located above the key fob reader.
Court documents say the fire damage she's accused of is not connected or related to any other fire damage in other portions of the apartment complex and is "an isolated fire location and damage area."
The complaint says Warley is not a resident of the building.
Her bond has been set at $3,000. Warley is due in court for a preliminary hearing June 11.
