MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Highland Court apartments, located near 27th and Highland in Milwaukee, have been sold. 

The apartment building was the site of a deadly Mother's Day fire earlier this year that took the lives of five people and injured several more. 

The incident was one of the main reasons for ongoing conversations about sprinkler systems in apartment buildings. 

Highland Court is one of many apartment properties that do not have sprinklers installed, leading to concerns about resident safety. 

Now, the apartment will be owned by Appleton Rental Homes. 

Records show they purchased the property for $2.5 million.
