WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- As the tech industry grows in the state of Wisconsin, We Energies is trying to keep up the pace.
They hosted a Demo Day for Milwaukee area students Wednesday, Oct. 29 giving them a chance to see a day in the life of a utility worker.
Students had the opportunity to climb an electric pole, use a bucket truck, and even operate a backhoe.
"In high school, they actually start working with us right away," said Alison Trouy, We Energies spokesperson. "So, they'll take field trips over the school year and then they work for us full-time over the summer. They are earning a paycheck and getting on-the-job experience."
If those graduates want more education, We Energies has multiple partnerships with local community colleges.
They also offer financial training and company mentors.
