GREENFIELD/ GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Rain caused some concern ahead of the last regular season games for Wisconsin high school football on Friday, Oct. 13.

WIAA required all games to be played before Saturday, in order for this week to be counted towards playoff brackets.

Football parents showed up to Greenfield High School donning their most creative rain gear.

"It's fun when it's raining, you get muddy!" said fan, Mark Hammer.

The Greenfield versus Cudahy game was moved from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, in an attempt to avoid heavy rain and a soggy field.

"We are one of the only people that have grass fields left," said Greenfield High School's athletic director, Nina Rouse. "We definitely were thinking about the amount of rain we are getting, the cold temperatures, we just don't want any of our athletes to get sick with next week going into playoffs."

The rain didn't bother the biggest fans, like Mary Kochanski, who hasn't missed one of her grandson's games.

"I just love it!" Kochanski said.

She said watching her grandson play is always worth the rain.

"Because he's worth it," Kochanski beamed.

Down the road, mud wasn't a concern for the Greendale's game against Grafton.

"We should be fine. This turf is three years old, and it'll be able to take the rain just fine," said Greendale athletic director, Jerad Gallante.

With a turf field and no lightning in the forecast, the team chose to keep the game at 7:00 p.m.

"We have a lot on the line, so there's conference implications as well as playoff implications for seedings, so we definitely want to get this in tonight," Gallante said.

Greendale parents also geared up to cheer on their boys ahead of playoffs.

"Oh, it's 100% worth it, wouldn't miss it," said fan, Juran Cook.

"We got to support our team," said fan, Pete Dineen.

The grass field didn't hurt Greenfield's team - they beat Cudahy, 47-6.
