First-ever Milwaukee Oktoberfest celebration coming to Henry Maier Festival Park

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Oktoberfest started 15 years as a bar crawl. It grew into a celebration at various beer gardens and even at Cathedral Square in recent years. For the first time in it's history it's being held at Henry Maier Festival Park. Julian Kegel of Kegel's Inn is one of the organizers. They will offer authentic German food and more than 16 Oktoberfest Beers.
Kegel says the history of Henry Maier Festival Park started with Milwaukee mayor in the 60's and his visit to Oktoberfest in Germany. He wanted to create a similar space in Milwaukee to have bring the community together for celebrations.
"But there's never been an Oktoberfest here on the grounds. So, 2025 marks the first time Oktoberfest is coming home to its roots," said Kegel.
OF the 16 Oktoberfest beers offered, includes Bräu Buddies, a collaboration between Kegel's, Lakefront Brewery and Hofbräuhaus in Germany.
The event runs Friday through Sunday. Admission is free from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
