MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Recently, we reported that the Walgreen's pharmacy at 27th and North Avenue is about to close.
On Friday, another pharmacy stepped up to help people who've been filling their prescriptions at Walgreen's.
Hayat Pharmacy at 19th and North Avenue invited Walgreen's customers to transfer their prescriptions free of charge before the Walgreen's store closes.
Obviously that's good for business at Hayat, but a pharmacy manager tells us there's more to it than that.
"Because we are the closest pharmacy to this location, we need to help our patients as soon as possible, they don't run out of any medications or like, experience any disruption of taking their medications. So we are just holding this event to invite our people in our community."
Friday's in-person prescription transfer is over at Hayat, but they'll be doing it again on June 5 and June 19, from 1-4 p.m.
