MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday, June 1, was graduation day for many seniors within Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). After an unconventional year, it’s an exciting time for them and their families.
There were many cheers inside of Panther Arena Tuesday morning, as students from Milwaukee Marshall High School walked across the stage.
MPS says more than 270 students graduated.
Many of them were in-person inside Panther Arena, while others attended the ceremony virtually.
For some, it’s also the first time – in a long time – they’ve seen their classmates, and the staff, in person.
MPS went virtual last year in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. And with many precautions, they allowed some students to return in-person for their final month.
This ceremony was the first of two this morning, and of eight total happening today.
They’re split between here and North Division High School.
The graduation ceremonies continue throughout the week.
MPS does have links to watch each ceremony online.
