Halal Restaurant Week to showcase global halal cuisine in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's diverse culinary scene is being showcased in a unique way for a second consecutive year.
Halal Restaurant Week, presented by Eat Halal Milwaukee, is set to showcase an assortment of halal dishes from a variety of cuisines.
The event, which runs from Thursday, July 7 to Saturday, July 16, is sponsored by Hayat Pharmacy and the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition.
Among the participating restaurants are new additions such as Canela Cafe, Hue, Heaven's Table, Crafty Cow, Chubby's, Romero's Tacos, El Gaucho, Ninja, Joey Gerard, Bacchus,and Texas de Brazil. They join returning favorites like Cuppa Tosa, Tomken's, Top Corned Beef, Onesto, Mr. B's, Five O'Clock Steakhouse and Carini's Southern Italian. The selections range from American staples to Latin American, Asian and Italian dishes.
Eat Halal Milwaukee hopes the feature will expand the palette of the Muslim community in Milwaukee by collaborating with renowned local restaurants and chefs. This year, some menus have been curated by James Beard finalists.
