Greendale standoff ends peacefully

GREENDALE -- Greendale police confirm a standoff on Oakwood Lane has ended peacefully.

We're told it began with a domestic argument between a 42-year-old man, his mother and her boyfriend. The 42-year-old man locked himself in the house with a pistol, while his mother and her boyfriend left the home.

Police negotiators talked with the 42-year-old man on the phone, and convinced him to surrender. The man was taken into custody and the district attorney will take the case from there.

The Greendale School District temporarily placed College Park Elementary School on hold status as police dealt with this incident.

Hold status means students will continue doing normal indoor activities, but no outdoor activities were allowed.

The district says they were alerted of police response around 11:00 a.m.
