GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Greendale Middle School's Principal John Weiss is keeping a promise.
He told his students and their parents that if they met a fundraising goal for the Special Olympics, he would spend the night on the roof of the school.
They met the goal, so he's keeping his promise.
"Last year we had our first penny wars fundraiser and in one week we were able to raise $1,600 that all went to Special Olympics, so we thought let's do some things to raise more, and I thought what better way than offer myself as an incentive to raise the money," Weiss said.
With the very cold temperatures, he'll be dressed in below-zero caliber ice fishing gear. He'll also be in a shanty with a heater, and he'll take breaks indoors at least once every hour.
On Saturday, he'll run to the Milwaukee County Zoo and take the Polar Plunge.
