Governor Walker Approves $530,000 Perimeter Fence Being Installed at Timmerman Airport

Governor Scott Walker has approved a $530,000 to install perimeter fence and remove obstructions at the Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport in Milwaukee County.

According to a release from WisDOT, the Governor’s action releases $26,500 in state funds for the project. Milwaukee County is contributing $26,500 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $477,000.

According to Wendy Hottenstein, project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), the project will replace the existing fence with a taller 10-foot fence to improve security and deter wildlife from entering the airport.

The project will also include the removal of various obstructions to provide clear approaches into the airport.

The project is being completed this summer and will not disrupt airport operations.

Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
