MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Governor Scott Walker took the stage during the Milwaukee 7 Economic Forum Wednesday morning.
Walker spoke about Wisconsin’s economy and workforce during the event at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
M7 is an economic development cooperative made up of seven counties in the state’s southeast region. The group works to retain and create jobs throughout the area.
Walker said although the state’s unemployment rate is at an all-time low, it is still important to plan for the future.
“What’re we doing in education? In training? In breaking down barriers and even in recruiting more talent to come to this state? For the openings we have today, let alone those that will come when we hire more people at places like Foxconn and Haribo and others within this M7 region," Walker said.
Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is at 2.8%, the fifth lowest in the country.
