MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Legislative Latino Caucus celebrated the third annual Cesar Chavez Day Wednesday, March 31.
State leaders focused on budget items, state legislative actions and general policy issues relevant to the Latino community.
Gov. Evers said one item in the budget will include money to combat the health inequity gaps Latinos are facing during the pandemic.
"This money includes grants to local community-based organizations and health departments to implement equity action plans and funding to support the development of community healthcare worker models and staff to coordinate an enterprise-wide health-in all policies action team," Evers said.
The grants will include $30 million to help support the efforts.
